Our Philosophy

We believe all children, and even adults, have certain needs that must be met if they are to grow and learn. Children need to learn through a combination of play, social and physical development, self-esteem and cognitive development. This is best taught through love and care. Children will have the opportunity to grow by exploring, manipulating, creating and problem solving with developmentally appropriate materials. We feel it is very important for the children to always have the knowledge that someone is there when needed. The relationship an adult builds with a child is very important to foster a sense of security and autonomy. We are committed to providing a safe, healthy, and clean environment for children to grow and prosper.

Staff

Many of our teachers are pursuing college degrees in child development. We train all of our staff to be CPR and First Aid certified. We perform criminal and personal reference checks prior to employment. Kristen Jenkins, Director/OwnerKristen has her degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Michigan University. She has been working in the early childhood field since 1985 and has been a director since 1992. She opened Tiny Tot University in 1998.Ms. Crystle, Head Preschool TeacherCrystle has been with TTU for 5 years. She has 11 years with experenice in early childhood.Ms. Kelsey, Infant RoomKelsey has been with TTU for 2 years and is attending Macomb Community College.Ms. Betty, Toddler RoomBetty has been with TTU for 9 years. Since I have started bringing him to Tiny Tot he has shown great strides in development, he has not gotten sick once in 8 weeks and he sleeps at least an hour for each nap. The teachers at Tiny Tot are amazing. At his old daycare I would never see any of the teachers on the floor with him playing. Now, at Tiny Tot, almost everytime I walk in the room, someone is playing with him. As all mom's feel, I absolutley hate the fact that someone else is watching my son, however, I go to work everyday knowing that he is getting almost the same care as if he was home with me. I call everyday to check on my son and they are just wonderful when communicating everything. Tiny Tot University is open year round from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. We are closed on the following days: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fouth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
